Their Communication Need
3M's 100th anniversary overlapped with the advent of the Millennium. 3M, a company built on inventions, wanted to highlight the 3M inventions of the past 100 years and illustrate what this means for world over the next 100 and even 1000 years. With this in mind a video had to be created for use in many presentations over the 2001 and 2002 period.

The Business Communication Solution
It was proposed that the video would be created from a melange of 3M historical archives, other shot pieces and new work. Digital editing would be used to provide maximum creative flexibility while minimising costs.
3M, taking its lead from Arthur C. Clarke's declaration that "significantly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", bought the rights to the Queen song "Its a kind of magic" as the key note of its anniversary celebrations. The video was therefore built around this theme and used the music.
Results
As well as being used in many presentations, the video is still available on the www.3m.com website.
