CASE STUDIES - McDonald's (Belgium)
Their Communication Need
McDonald's Belgium decided to have a big staff party to say "thank you" to their teams' for their ongoing hard work. Logistically, the event was to bring all the McDonald's employees from across Belgium into one location at one time.
While McDonald's was going to manage the event themselves, they wanted external experience to promote this occasion.
The Business Communication Solution
Morris & Chapman came up with a creative promotional process for in-house promotion. It included:
- Putting up posters with "teasers" in the staff roof regarding the event & handing out 3D glasses
- 4 weeks before the event 3D posters were put on the wall announcing the party
- 2 weeks later, everyone received a info pack with the details of the party
The external communication was much more straightforward. In effect, it consisted of putting up posters in publicly visible areas of all the McDonald's in advance of the event. And on the day of the event, posters were put up on the doors saying the restaurant (and all the other ones in Belgium) will be closed at 7 pm for a staff party.
Results
The vast majority of the staff, no matter their age or job role, seemed to love the intriguing and innovative build up to the event. Customers took the store closings with good humour and seemed pleased that McDonald's was ensuring its staff was well treated.
