Mapping the European Cement Industry’s Road to carbon neutrality
The challenge
Producing cement is a carbon intensive process. However, concrete is not only the most used construction material, it is also highly sustainable. Nevertheless, the European cement industry mapped a clear pathway towards lower carbon cement and concrete. The often rather scientific explanations had to be transformed in a coherent narrative that is understandable to a wide audience.
What we did
We worked closely with a panel of industry representatives to shape the narrative, wrote the report and subsequently designed both printed and online versions and supporting communication assets. We also worked with the industry to develop follow-up reports tracking progress and highlighting a revised strategy in line with the EU’s new climate ambition.
Results
The report and supporting materials have proven to be very useful in Cembureau’s policy outreach.
