Design of the Progressive Society Report

The challenge

The Progressive Society Report, titled The Great Shift, was commissioned by the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D Group) in the European Parliament. The initiative aimed to address the interlinked crises of climate change, inequality, and social injustice through groundbreaking policy proposals. The challenge was to present these complex, interconnected issues and their solutions in a clear, engaging, and accessible format that resonates across diverse audiences and languages.

What we did

Our design team collaborated closely with the S&D Group to craft a visually compelling and user-friendly report. The design process involved:

• Conceptualisation Developing a visual identity that reflects the themes of ecological and social progress.
• Layout Design Creating a layout that balances text and visuals, ensuring readability and engagement.
• Multilingual Adaptation Designing the report to be easily translatable and culturally adaptable across multiple languages.
• Digital and Print Formats Ensuring the design is optimized for both digital platforms and print distribution.

Results

The final report, The Great Shift, was successfully launched and is available in multiple languages, including English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. It presents 242 policy recommendations aimed at transforming today’s crisis-ridden societies into sustainable, more equal and fair communities. The design has been praised for its clarity, accessibility, and ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. The report has been utilized in the S&D Group’s ongoing legislative work and has contributed to shaping the 2024 European Parliament election manifesto.
